About Ryan
Ryan Williams is an internationally based African politics analyst and commentator that utilises culture, media and business ideas to analyse contemporary African politics. He has lived in Canada, Jamaica and South Africa. He completed his bachelors degree in political science at the University of the West Indies and his masters in African studies at the University of Cape Town.
He is the former President of the student movement the Marcus Garvey Movement (MGM) based at the University of the West Indies. During his time as a member of the MGM he was one of the organisers of the All African Students Conference and was part of the team that successfully brought the North American based conference in its 18th installment to the University of Namibia. He was also the editor of the “Our African World” newsletter that provided weekly commentary on issues facing the African Diaspora and continent to the university population in Jamaica. He currently lives in London.
